….Illuminating this Earth, touching us all....One always feels the presence of the full moon, even on cloudy nights.
Well, another step for humankind occurred last week as unmanned mechanical rovers from 3 different countries on Earth landed on and circled our neighboring planet Mars. I remember as a girl, stories of Martians landing on Earth, imaginary strange creatures much like us but usually green with antenna sticking out of their heads.
From the photos that the rovers relayed back to Earth, it looks pretty bleak there, much like the surface of the moon, not too appealing. I wonder if under all that dust and rock there would be any remnants of ancient civilizations....maybe a layer of frozen plastic buried amongst piles of other waste.
There are probably some humans who think that they, in their egotistical fashion, could colonize Mars. Well, without using up all the resources on this planet to do so, let them go. It looks pretty cold and let's just say...lifeless.
Our Earth is a paradise in comparison. So much life here as I listen to the waves crashing and swirling on the rocky shore and beach below. Such a gift of elements and marvelous creation. It is indescribable really, it is hard to even imagine. That first bubble of oxygen planted here like a precious seed which contributed to our protective atmosphere that surrounds us and breathes life into every one of us is quite the miracle.
Perhaps Mars played an important role in the factors aligning together, like the sun and moon, that allowed life to blossom on Earth...that amazing spark of life....let's not extinguish it.

Watching the moon rise with you is one of the most cherished moments in my life. You are a brilliant human and your talent is beyond belief. Thank you for sharing with us.
Love the full moon painting. That is my favourite way of keeping in touch with my daughter in the Yukon is looking at the moon while she is.
Colonising Mars seems to have a strong attraction for billionaires. They don't seem to understand "You Can't Take It With You", either for life, or planets...
If we are lucky, we can get all the billionaires to leave us alone and go and live there. Not to get rid of them, because redemption is always possible, but maybe their Mars Colony could be the opposite of a wilderness summer camp for inner city children- an educational experience for billionaires to look after the paradise we've got. cheers!
