Note: Dear Friends, I have not posted for awhile as things shift and change and I search for positive ways to emerge from the chaos so here is something that has been brewing for some time now…Lots Going On!…..Happy Solstice!!!
(Bank on Nature) Some Ideas for a new currency....
The BON Bank is a decentralized bank built on the foundation of Accountability, Credibility, Capability and Natural Law
It is based on suggested potential collateral...Art, Gold, Silver, Copper, Aluminum (already mined, recycled), wild land, clean watersheds, membership, donations and trusts.
Wild Land and land collateral has several levels....
1. Most valuable...intact old growth forest
2. Undeveloped natural land
3. Wildlife habitat
4. Clean, pure waters sources, watersheds
5. Organic farmland
6.Trusts donated for preservation
7. Indigenous Tribal Parks and culturally significant reserve land
8. Etc. ...( These are the foundations and collateral of the value of the BON currency and are not commodities to be destroyed or developed)
The BON Bank...
1. Is family and community backed and run...families can join as one unit as well as individuals and businesses
2. Supports healthy environment and local initiatives
3. Can be created locally and joined with others across the country and around the world
4. Is built as a Round Table collaboration of people that rely on each other and the collateral each brings to the table. No one is bound or restricted in any way. Members are free to come or go at anytime. Each member lists what they have to bring to the table, what they put in as collateral, their needs and what they can expend.
There is open circle consultation online and in person with both if necessary for decision making and problems using a united approach to determine actions and solutions.
There is a circle that attends to the business of operating but it is based on a rotating participation of members as well as choice by members. This cirlce would be based upon Indigenous teachings of the mathematics of the medicine wheel. (This is available and consists of 20 seats, it can be fewer to start with ...4, then 8, then more.)
There is an Elders circle to examine issues and give advice.
No one person or group decides what happens or has control. There is collective decision making and issues may be tabled if consensus isn't reached. There is no voting or majority rules. Everything is done in a circle.
The collateral is held by each member and contributes to the whole. If someone needs to borrow money, a member or members may offer that based on the collateral and trust the member needing the money can provide. It is based on sharing and trust. Each member is only bound by what they offer or "deposit". If someone fails in being a responsible participant, their collateral will be returned or may be forfeited depending upon debt. People can bring however much they wish to put in and put additional collateral in reserve, available if they so choose but it is an indication of their worth which enhances the overall strangth of the bank as a whole in value.
Some may bring money in the form of bills, cash or other items like gold, silver, art, etc. with their market value. Others may offer work, construction, mechanics, farm produce, distribution, etc.
What is a BON buck? Bon bucks are issued by the bank based on deposits and lent based on collateral. A BON buck is collateral...the personal value you wish to deposit or withdraw for yourself and exchange with others...it is an exchange of value and a measure of trust translated into BON currency.
Suggested...a BON buck is equal to 5 dollars Cdn.
Suggested...membership would be 4 BON bucks or 20.00 Cdn.
Everything is examined in regards to the benefit of all life and the integrity and health of the planet, other life forms and each other. If it is not deemed appropriate, it will not go ahead. This is based on ideas and concerns of members and those involved with transactions. If something goes ahead and is found to not maintain this integrity, it will be cancelled and undone to right any wrongs.
BON currency is an exchange of value based on balance and mathematics. It can start with anyone or group caring to share.
Note...there is nothing stopping anyone from printing more bucks but they would be worthless like counterfeit money. The bank issues BON bucks much like cheques which the depositor receives. There would also be a credit card that the bank approves used on the account. A member has a value worth what one owns and the amount that one has banked which can be verified through the bank when any transaction is made.
If someone wanted to pay for a hotel room, the bank would transfer from one's account the amount into the hotel's account. If one of the transactors didn't have an account, it could be paid in cheque or BON bucks or any currency acceptable.
The bank could start small and build based upon members and collateral.
It would be beneficial for both the participants and community to have BON banks situated in Indigenous centres, reserves or land. Indigenous title lends freedom to organize and administer BON economics through the understanding of traditional values.
wonderful post! Lots of thought and energy have obviously gone into the idea, which is so positive. I hope others are also taking the time to consider ways to incorporate it into their lives, wherever they live.
Sincerely,
Diane
P.S. I have heard from our mutual friend, thank you.
