“Medicine Hoop”
Hospitals have become garages for repair of broken bodies and replacement parts, mechanical applications, (take a number). True, deep healing comes from love and caring energies which are being forgotten in the modern, drug and pharmaceutical infested world.
Good medicine is when good things come to one who needs healing...a balancing act to repair imbalances. It is mathematics...if you keep subtracting from something without balancing, you get a deficit and eventually collapse. Everything has its mathematics, its ability to replenish or take away. Sometimes it is called sustainability. Plants, chemicals, people, etc....all can benefit or deplete.
(The Caudeseus is an ancient symbol for healing. If the serpents face each other, it represents truth, if facing away, it is the opposite. Gypsies said that if the serpents squeeze tighter, then sharpen the sword)
Medicine is a form of balancing. Good medicine fills vortexes that deplete. Plants and trees have abilities to generate good vibes and we tend to ingest these to account for imbalances...in teas, spirits, food, vitamins, supplements, etc., hoping to find a "cure" for what ails us..
….But to Indigenous People, good medicine was all around us...not necessarily ingested but by being aware of the life force of people, things, plants, trees, rocks, minerals and their abilities, their spirit. In this way, one could discern what each offered. Healers understood that their energies, love and caring were essential to enable a plant to heal, otherwise they were just placebos.
If a person or plant was capable of certain energies or abilities, one would turn to that being for guidance and help, being very respectful not to diminish that force and to express gratitude for the help rendered, maintaining the balance.
We encounter good medicine every moment of our lives...a bird's song, a flower opening, its color and scent vibrating through our bodes, the tastes of food and drink, people's moods, emotions...whether enhancing or draining or just allowing us to be ourselves without expecting anything. Medicine in the old teachings came in every form....color, thought, belief and more.
(Amanita Mushrooms are considered poisonous but many ancient shamans used them for enlightenment…but only to be used in specific ways known to them)
So when we reach for pills, drugs, uppers, downers or whatever we think we need...being aware of what essences it gives off is medicine. Sometimes we just need a shift in consciousness, an awakening moment of discernment...to really know and understand just what it is we are doing to ourselves. Our body tells us, often just as we reach for something. But the mind can play tricks on us so let the heart and body truly decode the energies, it doesn't lie.
PTSD. ADHD, OCD, AIDS, the list goes on but the worst disease of humankind is to put others or each other down. That is debilitating.
With respect and appreciation, honoring the balance within and outside of us, our intent, thoughts, words and feelings contribute to our collective destiny and health. We should all abide by the Hippocratic Oath....Do No Harm...Good Medicine to All!
Excellent Susanne. Thank you.
