“Native Call”
To the Indigenous People, it wasn't "Wild", it was tame and natural, how it should be, the way Nature made it. Manipulating the natural world, containing and controlling it has become a conditioned response to it by humanity and in the process, we have become imprisoned in an unnatural world of our own making...painting ourselves into a corner out of which it becomes more and more difficult to extricate ourselves or even survive.
Farming everything is a lot of hard work that often engulfs and takes over in unnatural and often unbalanced and unhealthy processes, getting bigger and more industrial.
“Winds of Change”
A true story....
One time, and still in some places, nature provided in its' amazing, unregulated way…other life forms did what they were created to do and balance was the way of things....until somewhere in the psyche of humans, it became a source of power to posess them and control their land. No longer were there freedoms to wander, to forage, to explore and be surprised by what also roamed free and foraged.
The balance started to shift and fences and barriers were put in place. Some people didn't live that way, didn't need too much or to control more...but some did and they got bigger in their needs.
But there was a place in people's hearts that still wanted the beauty and surprises of that natural way, so parks were defined but the needs were greater than the parks and soon the parks had to be managed, the human needs were greater than the parks and other life forms were even more displaced and often eradicated in the process.
Natural life diminished, controlled life became unbalanced and flourished. Pets replaced the natural creatures and rats flourished on the waste. Forests gave way to farms and people became more stuck in place having to maintain it where it used to maintain itself.
Fighting over the last of the natural resources became paramount and more control was established until the human species started to extinguish itself and each other even though we know better.
...............................................................
And so now it is time to reconsider our values, our world and how we can live in it in a better way. Nature has a way of balancing itself and if we stop thinking we can do better than nature, we might learn and gain something in the process....but we have to protect those blueprints of the natural world that remain, those so called "wild places" where the awe and beauty are still holding and showing us how without our control, then we may have a story to tell and a future for the next generations. There is still so much unknown out there to teach us and help us understand our place and who we are in it but it is being obliterated before we can learn about and from it.
"Humanity is capable of great wisdom and when we really look at what is important, we know exactly what it is"....Steve Lawson "Warrior for the Wilderness" ...Van. Sun
....but we must keep the balance, within ourselves and in the world around us…..
For All Our Relations.
Very lovely. The real pandemic is the power-over "windigo" that eats our souls.
